It's probably a northern town (Bixby and such). The closer you get to Kansas the more Hick-ish it becomes.

really?
the farther down from OK you go the more populous it gets...

OH!
Wait...
I know what she's talking about...
there's this HUGE stretch of land with nothing but RV places...
people actually live out there?
wow.

Once you hit TX and go a little in (Dallas area) it gets better.

HAHAHAHA!!! I want to fav this 6 more times.

Also, I've noticed here in my own little town in Indiana, that the old ladies with no use for the internet get 3MB connections while I'm physically stuck with some low end DSL with 350ms lag to the next state over. And this phenomenon in CONSTANT.

Since you're 15 years old, I'm going to assume you've never used dial-up internet before. 56K is the fastest dial-up internet connection. It uses up your phone line when you're online, which is why DSL and cable are an improvement, because while DSL uses your phone line, neither tech prevents you from making and receiving phone calls (which dial-up does, if you didn't catch that).

56K is NOT the same as 56 kiloBYTES per second. It's 56 kiloBITS per second. That's a maximum download speed of 7 kilobytes per second, but typically you'd get more like 3-5 kilobytes per second.

VERY VERY SLOW by today's standards, however some areas of the world/country/etc don't have access to broadband internet (dsl/cable) and thus ONLY have access to dial-up connectivity.

I hope this clears it up for you.

Hahaha!!!! That's seriously funny. Once you've had fast internet, you never go back. I once spent 2 or so hours wandering around with my laptop at my grandparent's house in South Washington, and wanted to make a break for it when I found no one in town even had Wi-fi... Small towns are indeed scary...

I was in Arizona. We were in a tiny tiny tiny town and we passed by a small building. Outside was a sign (NO LIE) that said, "Nursery and Vacuum Repair."

i know your pain. who in their right minds would pay for dial-up nowadays? if you're using dial-up, you should be the one getting paid for psychological damages and stuff!
