New fan, just started going through your works and I know this is...half a year old? But I wanted to mention how this can show up in alot of things, like lately 'The Golden Compass'...I've been motivated to watch the movie (and read the books) just because of the Christian hype against it. Ok back to my quiet corner before I get shot.
Oddly enough, I had virtually the same experience about 'Dogma'. Had no interest in seeing it, just didn't flip my noodle...then an ultra-Catholic coworker forwarded email to everyone from her priest denouncing the film as malicious, evil and anti-Catholic and that everyone should boycot the theaters showing it for those reasons.
I had tickets for myself and 4 friends in my hands inside of 4 hours. Great film.
The best way to diswade garbage like this is to ignore it. Unfourtunatly, critics are not paid to do this. But, *Shudder* the worst film of all time to date, that was for some mystry greenlighted, is "Fready got fingered". I saw 10 Minutes on HBO, and any one who would like to see the whole film twice, well,..... I think that euginics is the worst abomination man can commit to man, but in the case of FGF fans, I am tempted to make an exeption.
Clerks is good and Clerks II is just silly, but lots of fun if you liked the first one. But I'd say worth seeing. Vulgar and crude, but worth seeing. The first ones pretty much a big part of the whole... 90's thing.
Great comic though, I love your style. and you're so funny!
great comic and so true, the amount of movies and games ive seen and bought becourse of that becourse of that,
gta, manhunt, feed, and bully (though its not out yet im gonna get it)
ive seen clerks 2 but not clerks 1 ive got to get round to seeing it
"we prefere to call it animal erotica" sick and wrong yet funney
though for some reason the porch monkey 4 life had me laughfing th most especially when the cop comes in near the end.
some people say im easyily distracted but ... hey a butterfly
*I* know which scene made him walk out, but they didn't SHOW anything, so I like Kevin Smith pretty good, though I normally wait till they come out on dvd (except for the Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back movie, cause I love those two) anyways, Jay and Silent Bob are more than cameos in this one, so I liked that, but I also thought that this was the most shocking, grossest, most vulgar and deepest and most lovable and morally sound film that Kevin Smith has ever made. And I never expected to put those particular adjectives all in the same sentence, just in case it comes up. But for the record, it reminded me why life is worth living. lol
I was forced to sit through Clerks 1. Don't. Ever. See. It. EVER. I don't understand how people can stand to watch something so painfully stupid and horribly acted/scripted. My Mom and Dad were forced to sit through it, too. I could tell they were in pain watching it...my brother must be seriously easy to entertain, or he's stupid enough to like watching stupid movies. He comes upstairs one day from his basement lair, puts the rented DVD in the DVD player, puts the TV on the DVD channel and says "YOU'RE ALL WATCHING CLERKS". I draw upstairs. Me and Dad watch Sci-Fi upstairs. Mom comes home from work about fifteen minutes into the movie and my brother convinces her to sit and watch...somehow. I'm in so much pain watching the movie all I can do is stare at the TV in agony while my pencil hovers over the paper, unable to draw....AUGH I HATE CLERKS :explodes:
To be fair, I've always liked most of their music; I have their first two albums, and occasionally give them a listen when I'm the mood for bitch-flavor!country (Natalie Maines can do gentle soprano as well, but her bitch mode - as heard for instance on "Sin Wagon" - is somewhat more fun). Though, the way people rallied around them this last album is... wow. Then again, now they're a martyr for free speech (sort of), so I shouldn't be surprised. Still, it's not an awful album - the best song off it ("Not Ready to Make Nice") was released for free though, is the funny part.
Seen it. It's a hilarious flick. All the movies with Jay and Silent Bob are good. I would say all Kevin Smith movies aregood, but Jerseygirl sucked. It would have been better if Jay and Silent Bob were in it though.
